The 2019 Ram 1500 is completely redesigned for the previous year. This new truck is lighter, more fuel efficient, stronger, more aerodynamic, and overall a step in the right direction for an all-new generation. The Ram 1500 will drive smoother with some added fine-tuning to its suspension and increased off-road capability. On top of the overall capability of the new Ram, there has also been some added technology that will really knock it over the top in luxury and enjoyment.Â
What are the available trim levels on the Ram 1500?
Available trims would be the Tradesman, HFE, Big Horn, Rebel, Laramie, Langhorn, and the Limited. Each of these comes with its own touch of style and capability. The Tradesman is your basic work truck will all the necessities at a lower cost. The HFE is your high fuel efficiency truck for those that love owning a truck but hate the cost at the gas station. The Big Horn trim comes with some added off-road fun and basic technology, while the Rebel really steps it up for off-road functionality giving you everything you could need. The Laramie brings in some luxurious fun with added comfort and automated ease in some of the more difficult driving maneuvers. The Longhorn also brings in some luxury with added style too. The Limited then brings everything together with all the amenities and added suspension.
What is new for the powertrain?
The increase in fuel efficiency is all thanks to the new eTorque mild hybrid system! A wonderful 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 and 5.6-liter Hemi V8 are both available to the 2019 Ram. The mild hybrid portion comes from a 48-volt battery pack with built-in start/stop. This system adds about 90 lb-ft of torque to the first engine and almost 130 lb-ft of torque to the second. Further efficiency is added with the TorqueFlite eight-speed automatic transmission. For the off-roading fun, an all-new electronic locking rear differential is added as well.
What are some of the big design changes?
The design updates for 2019, were both to add in style and to help improve the overall capabilities of the truck. The biggest updates were made to the materials used with a lighter weight, yet stronger steel for the frame and a shape change for improved aerodynamics and a better interlocking theme throughout. In addition to the build, new lights and improved center console adjustments had been added as well. For added storage capacity, the 2019 Ram will also come with a choice of 12 different configurations for interior customization.
