The Many Uses of the RAM 1500 Pickup Truck

Handy Features of the RAM 1500 Pickup Truck

The RAM 1500 Pickup Truck comes with many useful features. The RAM 1500 may be known as a working truck, but also offers strengths in its available storage and passenger space, as well as fuel economy! Keep reading to learn more!

About Storage & Passenger Space

If one travels a lot for work then they will like the RAM 1500's good amount of available storage spaces. As is obvious by looking at the truck, it does have a pickup bed for storage, and these pickup beds are available in different lengths. A RAM 1500 buyer can get this truck with "RamBox" weatherproof bedside bins if purchasing a 1500 model with a 5-foot-7 or 6-foot-4 bed.

However, one needs to get inside the truck to see what more the truck offers for space. If purchasing the extended cab one can flip up the interior's 60/40-split rear seats to see and make use of available fold-out flat floor space. Getting the crew cab will provide for storage space under the flip-up backseat and watertight storage compartments underneath the rear floor.

As is desirable in all vehicles, but not always had, is legroom. Both the Quad Cab and Crew Cab models of the RAM 1500 provide plenty of available legroom to passengers. Because of this these passengers will be comfortable on any drive, no matter how long or short. One can purchase an available ten-way-power driver's seat. The vehicle offers tons of shoulder room, head room and hip room.

Off-Road Capability

The RAM 1500 is useful as an off-road vehicle. Two variants--Outdoorsman and Rebel--are specifically designed for bringing the vehicle off-road. The Outdoorsman is available as a four-wheel drive model with either the crew or Quad cab configuration. The Outdoorsman comes with tow hooks, underbody skid plates, heavy-duty rear shock absorbers and all-terrain tires. The Rebel model is available with a 5-foot-7 bed and available as a crew cab. Features specific to the Rebel model that could come in handy are LED fog lights, front and rear Bilstein shock absorbers and all-terrain tires.

A Truck for Excellent Fuel Efficiency

The RAM 1500 serves as a very fuel-efficient vehicle. Although this is not a "working" use per-se, the RAM 1500 can really provide fuel efficiency if that is what you are looking for in a vehicle. The RAM 1500 offers a 3.0-liter turbocharged EcoDiesel engine. This engine was developed and manufactured by VM Motori, a company has been supplying to Chrysler since 1992.

Then there is the RAM 1500's HFE (high fuel economy) trim that comes in either a regular- or quad-cab body style with a 6-foot-4 cargo bed. That trim can be coupled with a gasoline or diesel V6 engine. HFE drivers will like the automatic engine stop-start feature to make for a great fuel-efficient truck.

Did you know that reducing the parasitic electrical load can improve fuel economy? Through the vehicle's pulse-width modulation (PWM) less of the truck's load is put on the alternator. The forward cooling fan then takes advantage of the PMW and improves the truck's fuel efficiency by 0.2 percent.
