Summer Maintenance For Your Jeep
Keep Your Vehicle In Great Shape This Summer!
During the summer months, there's lots of excitement buzzing in the air, and many of our schedules become busier and busier as we strive to make the most of the good weather. Usually, that means more time in the car as you set off on family vacations, road trips, and camping trips. However, in the midst of all these fun activities, it's important to set aside the time to take good care of your vehicle. If you're a Jeep driver, you know that your vehicle helps you along the way during all your outdoor adventures. Summer is the perfect time to put some care and attention into your Jeep so that you can start your next journey with confidence! Continued down below, we'll go over a few ways you can keep your Jeep in its best possible condition, all summer long.
Check On Your Air Conditioning
One of the most important things in your car during the summer is the good old A/C! You'll want to make sure your air conditioning is in good working order, and that all the dials and adjustments function properly. You should also check on your air conditioning fluid levels to make sure the air is being cooled properly before it gets blown into the cabin. Also, it's a good idea to inspect the cabin air filters to make sure they're free of mildew and other debris. This will keep your car's interior smelling fresh and clean, and ensure good air quality.
Inspect Your Fluid Levels
Aside from air conditioning refrigerant, there are many important fluids that keep your Jeep running smoothly. Be sure to check on your windshield wiper fluid, so that you can keep your windshield clean and have the best possible visibility. You should also check on your oil levels by using your car's dipstick and making sure that when it's fully inserted, the oil levels reach the correct line. Coolant is another important factor, as it's what keeps your engine at the optimal temperature. In summer, your car may be more prone to overheating, so having the proper coolant is a must.
Fill Your Tires
Extreme hot and cold temperatures can have an effect on your tire pressure, so summer is a good time to assess the levels in all your tires. Your dashboard should alert you if your tires fall below their correct pressure, but you can also check it for yourself with a tire pressure monitor found at many gas stations. Your car's manual, or the sticker on the inside of your door should let you know what the correct tire pressure should be, which will help you fill them accordingly. Just remember, high tire pressure can be just as detrimental as low tire pressure, so make sure you're finding a happy medium without overfilling.
Check Your Car Battery
If you're spending more time in the car, and constantly running the A/C, your car battery may be working harder than usual. During the summer, make sure to check in on your car battery to make sure it's still properly installed. Any loose connections will cause the battery to vibrate under the hood and continue to wear it down. Also, your battery should be replaced every three to four years, so if it's reaching the end of its lifetime, be sure to schedule a service appointment to have it replaced.
