The Kings County Memorial Day Parade in Bay Ridge is in honor of the many men and women who died in service for the United States. The parade is in the Bay Ridge neighborhood of Brooklyn and is the oldest Memorial Day parade in New York City. There are also other smaller parades in the other boroughs of the city.

The Parade of Ships.

A big part of Memorial Day weekend in New York City is Fleet Week. Fleet week is one week that honors service members, and one of the best-known parts of the celebration is the Parade of Ships where the US Navy shows off its ships of all sizes including aircraft carriers. The Parade of Ships can be viewed from along the Westside Highway, Brooklyn Bridge Park and other areas with views of the rivers.

This year, Fleet Week will be May 23rd to May 25th, and there will be many activities at the New York City's Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum Complex to celebrate like swing dancing, live performances, movie night, a battle of the band's competition as well as other celebrations. Visitors can also take in the unique Intrepid Museum which located aboard the aircraft carrier Intrepid.
