Jeep Wrangler vs Ford Bronco

SUVs are about to get a dose of excitement with the unveiling of the latest versions of the Jeep Wrangler and Ford Bronco. With the Jeep Wrangler, the iconic rock crawler receives a bit of a facelift with the addition of a diesel engine. At the same time, the Ford Bronco makes its anticipated return with a ton of features and a surprisingly powerful engine. While both of these SUVs have strong merits, only one can be crowned as the best SUV around. Continue reading to see which one comes out on top!

 Jeep Wrangler Power & Handling

The Jeep Wrangler comes with a few terrific engine options. Coming standard is a 3.6-liter V6 that makes an impressive 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft of torque. This engine connects to either a six-speed manual or an eight-speed automatic transmission, both of which provide a smooth ride. All trims give you the option of either a 2.0-liter turbocharged four-cylinder with 270 horsepower and 295 lb-ft of torque or a 3.0-liter diesel engine that pumps out 260 horses and an incredible 442 lb-ft of torque. Jeep also offers you a few four-wheel-drive systems for the Wrangler, including an advanced one for the Rubicon.

 Ford Bronco Power & Handling

Two engine options are available for the Ford Bronco. The first is a turbocharged 2.3-liter four-cylinder that rips out 270 horsepower and 310 lb-ft of torque. Optional on the Bronco is a twin-turbo 2.7-liter V6 that comes with a terrific 310 horsepower. There are a few transmission options available for the Bronco, including a seven-speed manual and a ten-speed automatic. While both of these engines are perfectly fine, we hope that Ford puts in a diesel option as the Wrangler has.

 Jeep Wrangler Features & Design

While the engine lineup for the Jeep Wrangler is impressive, there is also a ton of features and options to consider. Starting with the base Sport, the Wrangler comes with fog lights, underbody skid plates, and push-button ignition. The inside of the Sport comes complete with an eight-speaker audio system with USB and AUX inputs. An Unlimited version is available for the Sport, which adds an extra set of doors, 5-passenger seating capacity, and additional rear-seats. Sport S variants add even more goodies such as power windows, air conditioning, and keyless entry. Higher trims of the Wrangler add more luxury features, including a Uconnect system with an 8.4-inch touchscreen and Apple CarPlay/Android Auto capability as well as safety features such as Blind Spot Monitoring. Three unique packages are available for the Wrangler, including the Black and Tan, the Willy's, and the Freedom. Each of these comes with its own set of features that range from a limited-slip differential to 32-inch all-terrain tires.

 Ford Bronco Features & Design

The all-new Ford Bronco provides a ton of exciting features as well. Inside the cabin, you'll find a built-in instrument panel with controls that are easy and fun to use. Also included is a ton of space with 60/40 slip-fold second-row seating. Depending on the trim level, the Bronco has the option of durable cloth, vinyl, or heated and leather-trimmed seats. Additionally, the Bronco adds several roof options, including a removable hardtop system with multiple panels. By far, the best thing about the Bronco is that the buttons on the front panel provide you access to the front stabilizer bar as well as the front and rear differential lock, electronic stability control, and hazard lights. All of these features certainly provide you with enough options, though the Jeep Wrangler simply offers more.

Conclusion:

While we think that the Bronco will improve, for now, we are going to give the victory to the Jeep Wrangler. The Wrangler provides you with more engine options, which now includes a diesel component. As for the features, the Wrangler offers you more of them as well as three outstanding special editions. Want to know more about the Jeep Wrangler?
