Jeep Wrangler 4xe

The Jeep Wrangler 4xe integrates two electric motors, a 400-volt battery pack, and the fuel-efficient and turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine to provide drivers with an amazing 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. The engine combines nicely with a Torqueflite eight-speed automatic transmission. There is a high-voltage and liquid-cooled motor generator that mounts at the engine's front, which replaces the original alternator. The motor-generator spins the engine for a seamless fuel-saving stop-start operation while generating electricity for the battery pack. Meanwhile, a second high-voltage motor-generator is mounted at the front of the transmission case and replaced an automatic transmission torque converter. Two clutches work together to manage the power and torque from the electric power and the engine. 

The Jeep Wrangler 4xe 400-volt battery is encased in aluminum housing and is fitted with a heated and cooling circuit to keep it at an optimal temperature for the best performance. The temperature control circuit contains a dedicated heater and chiller that takes the Wranglers air-conditioning unit and reduces the coolant temperature if needed. Included with the 4xe's hybrid system is an Integrated Dual Charging Module, which combines the battery charger with a DC/DC converter to a single unit, which helps improve the space inside the Wranglers cabin. All of these high-voltage electronics, including all of the wiring, are sealed and waterproof. Like all of the Jeep Wranglers that are Trail Rated, the Wrangler 4xe is capable of water fording up to 30 inches, which is simply amazing!

The Jeep Wrangler 4xe can tailor to each trip. Whether you need a daily commuter, a night on the town, or off-road capability, there is sure to be a mode that will suit your needs. There are three modes of operation known as the E Selec, and the driver can select the desired option via buttons on the instrument panel located to the left of the steering wheel. The first available option is known as the Hybrid, which is the default mode. It blends the torque from the 2.0-liter engine and the electric motor with the powertrain using the battery power and then adds the propulsion from the turbocharged engine when the battery reaches a minimum state of charge. Next up is the electric mode, which operates on the zero-emission electric power only until the battery reaches a minimum state of charge or the driver needs more torque. Then the 2.0-liter turbocharged engine is engaged. The final mode is the eSave mode, which prioritizes the 2.0-liter engine while saving the battery for use later on, such as in off-roading and urban areas. The driver can choose between Battery Save and Battery Charge via the Hybrid Electric Pages in the Uconnect system.
