Underneath the hood of the Jeep 4xe lineup is a 2.0L turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine. Meanwhile, an electric motor is placed where the alternator would typically be. This electric motor provides a seamless Engine Stop-Start function and impressive regenerative braking. Meanwhile, a second electric motor replaces the torque converter inside the transmission to provide the wheels with instantaneous torque. This combination of gas and electric power comes together for 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. The electric motors are powered by a rechargeable 400-volt battery pack that is tucked under the rear seat, where it is protected from the surface beneath the vehicle. This battery is recharged by a Level 1 or Level 2 charging cable. Regenerative braking is also used to send energy back to the battery by reversing the direction of the flow of electricity from the electric motors while the vehicle is decelerating. 

The Jeep Wrangler 4xe was the first of Jeep's 4xe models. In addition to the impressive power mentioned above, the Wrangler 4xe achieves a combined 49 MPGe, 21 miles of all-electric driving, and a total driving range of up to 370 miles. The Wrangler 4xe comes standard with Selec-Trac full-time 4x4, which runs in four-wheel drive at all times, constantly reading road conditions and adjusting torque distribution to maximize traction. Meanwhile, Rock-Trac 4x4 is standard on the Rubicon trim, giving it a 4:1 low-range gear ratio to provide more torque while crawling at lower speeds, making it the ideal 4x4 system for tough off-roading. Standard features for the Wrangler 4xe include LED exterior lighting, heated/power-adjustable side mirrors, 18-inch alloy wheels, 32-inch tires, a 12.3-inch Uconnect 5 touchscreen, and much more. Meanwhile, the higher trim levels add even more features like the Rubicon with 33-inch all-terrain tires, an electronic disconnecting front sway bar, locking differentials, and more. Or you can opt for a different trim like the Sahara, which prioritizes comfort with dual-zone automatic climate control, heated front seats, remote engine start, and a seven-inch driver information display. The Wrangler 4xe is available in Sport S, Willys, Sahara, Rubicon, Rubicon X, and High Altitude. 

The Jeep Grand Cherokee 4xe uses the same powertrain setup as the Wrangler 4xe, a turbocharged engine, two electric motors, and a rechargeable battery pack. While the power output numbers remain the same – 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque – the Grand Cherokee offers up to 470 miles of total driving range, 56 MPGe, and 25 miles of all-electric driving. The Grand Cherokee 4xe lineup comes standard with Quadra-Trac I 4x4, which provides a 48% front and 52% rear torque split for excellent all-weather performance. Quadra-Trac I works with a Brake Lock Differential, which controls the power flow from side to side and will limit power to wheels that have lost traction. Meanwhile, Quadra-Trac II is available, adding a two-speed transfer case to allow the driver to choose between 4-High and 4-Low drive modes based on the current driving conditions. Like the Quadra-Trac I system, Quadra-Trac II also uses a brake lock differential. Finally, Quadra-Drive II operates similarly but uses a network of sensors and an electronic limited-slip rear differential to detect wheel slip at the earliest possible moment and redirect up to 100% of torque to the single wheel with the most traction to limit and even eliminate slippage.
