The Jeep became the primary light-wheeled transport vehicle for the US military during WWII. President Eisenhower once called it "one of three decisive weapons the U.S. had during WWII." It was the world's first mass-produced four-wheel-drive car. The Jeep performed many roles during the war, everything from being the mount for cavalry units conducting combat reconnaissance missions to carrying litters bearing wounded troops. Special Air Service units also used the Jeep to conduct raids behind enemy lines.

The Jeep brand came out with special-edition Freedom models for their entire lineup of 2021 models. The Freedom edition features a military-themed exterior and interior styling. With a large Oscar Mike military star symbol on the hood and an American flag running down the side of each vehicle. The Gladiator and Wrangler come with an Oscar Mike logo on the tailgate. Jeep will make a donation of $250 to the United Service Organizations for every 2021 Freedom model sold to honor the US military. Plus, every active and recently retired service member also qualifies for $500 Military Bonus Cash across the Jeep 4x4 lineup.
