The Jeep Wrangler 4xe was the brand's first-ever plug-in hybrid, introduced in 2021. It uses a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline four-cylinder engine with a 33-kilowatt motor mounted to the front, where the traditional alternator would be. This provides the engine with a seamless stop-start function and optimizes brake regeneration. The 4-LO mode is to be used to provide optimal traction while climbing steep inclines, crawling over rocks, and tackling other rugged terrain. Meanwhile, the 4-HI mode should be selected when driving on roads covered with snow, mud, ice, or other slick surfaces. The Wrangler Rubicon 4xe comes exclusively with Rock-Trac full-time 4x4, which provides the same benefits listed above, however, when in 4-LO mode, the transfer case provides a lower gear ratio to better handle rugged terrain by providing more torque at low speeds. The Wrangler 4xe trim-level lineup includes Willys, Sahara, Rubicon, and High Altitude.

The Grand Cherokee 4xe joined the Jeep lineup in 2022. It uses the same turbocharged engine and electric motor setup, still putting out 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque. However, the Grand Cherokee 4xe offers slightly more efficiency than the Wrangler 4xe. While the Wrangler 4xe gets 49 MPGe, the Grand Cherokee 4xe gets up to 56 MPGe. Additionally, the Grand Cherokee 4xe gets a 470-mile total driving range and an all-electric driving range of up to 25 miles. The Grand Cherokee 4xe's base trim level is based on the Limited trim, while the rest of the lineup includes the Trailhawk, Overland, Summit, and Summit Reserve. Each trim brings its own unique set of features. For example, the Trailhawk brings on exclusive features like an electronic sway bar disconnect, all-terrain tires, tow hooks, and more.
