Hotel Hacks or Babies and Toddlers
Staying in a hotel can be relaxing and luxurious, but if you're traveling with a baby or toddler, staying in a hotel probably won't be either of those things. So before you panic about your next hotel stay with your kiddo, here are 9 genius hotel hacks to make your home away from home a little more kid friendly.
- A pool noodle is a great option to use as a bedrail. Just tuck it under the sheets to keep your little one safely in the bed at night.
- If you need hot water to warm food, or for bottles, use the coffeemaker to get hot water. Just be sure to skip the coffee. That is liquid gold when traveling with your kids!
- A yoga mat makes for a quick and comfy bed for younger children. Just add a few blankets and pillows for a small bed for your toddler.
- Don't let dirty diapers stink up the hotel room! Use the ice bucket liner or plastic laundry bag to bag and dispose of dirty diapers. Be sure to ask for a few extras from housekeeping. If your room does get stinky from diapers, ask for extra bags of coffee grounds. Just open the bags and let the coffee eliminate the odors.Â
- Pack and extra sheet so your baby can stretch out on the floor but you don't have to worry about dirt and germs.
- Use duct tape or blue painters tape to quickly baby proof electric outlets when you arrive. If your little one often tries to take a swim in the toilet, add a little tape so they will stay out but you can get in. In a pinch, band aids can be used to cover electric outlets too.
- If the hotel room is too bright during naptime, use a binder clip to keep the curtains closed.Â
- Cut down on nighttime noise by asking for a room that is away from the elevators. It's also a good idea to download a white noise app that you can play from your phone or tablet. To make the sound louder on your smartphone, create a makeshift speaker by placing your phone in a cup. You won't believe how much the volume increases.
