Even
though it's so much easier to pull up to the drive-through, resist the urge!
With a little planning and packing, you can create healthy snacks perfect for
your busy life. These on-the-go snacks are the perfect size and guaranteed to energize
you.
·        Homemade trail mix: Rice and corn cereal, raisins, almonds, walnuts, air-popped popcorn, and a few chocolate chips for that sweet tooth.
·        Homemade granola: Bake your own at home, then throw in some healthy additions like sunflower seeds and dried fruit.
·        Ants on a Log: Natural peanut butter on celery garnished with "ants," or raisins, Craisins, or dark chocolate chips.
·        Deli Roll-ups: Low-sodium deli meat rolled up with cheese is quick, easy, and a great source of energy.
·        Peanut Butter and Banana Roll-ups: Spread peanut butter on a whole wheat tortilla, wrap banana inside, cut into bite-size pieces.
·        Fresh Fruit: Nothing easier than an apple!
·        Veggies & Dip: Carrot, cucumber, and pepper strips with a side of hummus make a yummy, healthy snack.
·        Mini Meat and Cheese Platter: Cut up bite-size cheeses, a few pieces of hard salami, and throw in some whole wheat crackers.
·        Think Drink: Spinach fuels bodies and minds, but the kids don't need to know they're drinking it! Before leaving home, blend one cup spinach, one cup frozen or fresh berries, half a banana, and tablespoon of nut butter with a cup of almond milk a handful of ice. Throw it all in your favorite travel mug and enjoy!
·        Yogurt: Greek is best, but look for the varieties lowest in sugar and add some of that homemade granola from above for extra protein.
