Chrysler 200 has succeeded in capturing the coveted award of "Family Vehicle of the Year", from the Midwest Automotive Media Association (MAMA). MAMA is a nonprofit organization, comprised of over 200 industry professionals and automotive journalists. The group was created in an effort to help families around the country in choosing the perfect vehicle for their needs. MAMA rallies take place twice a year, in the Fall and Spring, and at each there are at least 100 manufacturer's vehicles for journalists to test drive.
The President of MAMA, Patrick Olsen, said of the award: "We know how important it is, and how difficult it can be, to pick the right family car," said Patrick Olsen, MAMA President. "This award helps give consumers a chance to see the car that nearly a hundred automotive journalists -many with families themselves -- selected as the best choice for families in 2015."
The award is one of the most sought after from auto brands across the country. There are a few criteria that the vehicle must fit into to be considered for the award. All vehicles must have a U.S. Manufacturer's Suggested Retail Price (MSRP) of less than $50,000, and four doors. Additionally, the vehicles must be new or significantly updated within the past year, as well as have made an appearance at one of MAMA's two annual rallies.
Al Gardner, the President and CEO, Chrysler Brand - FCA US LLC., was proud that the Chrysler 200 received the award. "We are delighted that the new Chrysler 200 has been chosen 'Family Vehicle of the Year' by the Midwest Automotive Media Association, whose members evaluate dozens of new vehicles throughout the year," said Gardner, "The 2015 Chrysler 200 was developed to be the benchmark for mid-size sedans with a timeless, elegant design; clever functionality; a standard nine-speed automatic transmission; a class-leading available all-wheel-drive system; 60 safety and security features and a host of new technology drivers and passengers will value. It is a sedan that drivers will be proud to own, at a value they will appreciate."
A remarkable percentage of the deciding group voted for the Chrysler 200 as the best vehicle, and it received 79 points, making it the clear standout of the year.
