• Check the forecast - Find out if severe weather is expected where you're driving, then plan your trip accordingly. This will also help remind you to check your windshield wipers and make sure they are still working properly.

• Don't drive tired - Make sure you're well rested and alert for your journey. Many say that driving becomes hypnotic. The more tired you are the more likely it is you can fall asleep while driving.

• Never operate a vehicle while impaired - A car should never be driven if you drink alcohol or take drugs. This can hinder your judgement and cause a fatal accident.

• Keep Your Vehicle Locked - Don't make it easy for thieves to steal your car or the items in it. Make sure that all windows and doors are locked.

• Don't Store Valuable Items In Vehicle - Either remove valuables or store them out of plain sight. This helps so that thieves won't be tempted to break in and steal them.

• Avoid parking next to large vehicles or any objects - This includes, dumpsters, large trees, shrubs, etc. These make it easy for someone to hide behind.
