2021 Gladiator EcoDiesel

Along with the improved horsepower and torque, the all-new Gladiator EcoDiesel has an outstanding fuel economy and low levels of noise, vibration, and harshness, which is sure to meet the needs of all Gladiator drivers. Several significant changes improve the EcoDiesel, including a new-generation water-cooled turbocharger and low friction bearing that increases and responsiveness during transient conditions. The cylinder heads have been completely redesigned with intake ports and a higher flow capacity, which increases both performance and fuel economy. Lightweight aluminum alloy pistons are entirely redesigned to include thinner rings and low-friction diamond-like carbon coating on the pin and a compression piston ring. Finally, the high-pressure direct-injection fuel nozzles have been redesigned to match the combustion chamber and reduce fuel consumption.

The all-new 3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 comes tailored with dual overhead camshafts, which include four valves per cylinder and an interesting sixty-degree angle between the cylinder banks. Meanwhile, the engine block is cast in compacted graphite iron, which gives the engine the strength to dampen vibrations. Additionally, the EcoDiesel V6 uses a forged steel crankshaft and connecting rods that add durability and strength. One of the best things about the EcoDiesel is it includes a Charge Air Cooler, which is located at the base of the grille directly in front of the radiator. This handy cooler allows the Gladiator to maximize cooler temperatures. Finally, an all-new 5.1-gallon diesel exhaust fuel tank is held right behind the fuel tank with a refill location next to the diesel fuel filler. The DEF refills run concurrently with oil changes and last up to 10,000 miles. Drivers can monitor the DEF gauge in the front cluster.
