Finding the perfect SUV can be a stressful process, especially when considering the many different options available in the automotive industry. All of the options come with their own set of standard features and trim levels. We are here to make this process easier! Two of the top SUVs available include the 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee and the 2019 Ford Explorer. Both of these models stay very much the same as they were in the previous year, and for good reason. Jeep and Ford have created vehicles that need no further introduction. The Grand Cherokee, in particular, offers not just superb off-roading capabilities, but performance-heavy versatility. This is the kind of options that you can expect with the 2019 Grand Cherokee. If you're interested in learning more about these two SUVs, and finding out which one you should drive home, keep reading down below!

2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Power & Handling

The Grand Cherokee has many perks, including an engine lineup that includes 5 engine options! The standard engine, which works with 2WD or 4WD, is a 3.6-liter V6. This engine can output up to 260 pound-feet of torque and 295 horsepower. Moving further up the lineup you'll find the 5.7-liter V8. This engine can create around 360 horsepower and 390 lb-ft of torque. One engine that will eventually be available is a 3.0-liter diesel V6, which creates 240 hp and 420 pound-feet of torque. You'll be able to pair it with 2WD or 4WD. Once you get to the SRT trim, the engines become performance-based. The SRT's engine is a 6.4-liter V8, which produces around 470 lb-ft of torque and 475 hp. The most powerful engine in the lineup comes with the Trackhawk trim. This engine is a supercharged 6.2-liter V8, which creates 645 lb-ft of torque and 707 horsepower. All of the available engines come paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission, and you can even tow up to 7,400-lbs!

2019 Ford Explorer Power & Handling

The 2019 Explorer does offer a few engines in the lineup, however, there are only three available engines instead of the five offered with the Grand Cherokee. The base engine is a 3.5-liter V6, which can create 255 lb-ft of torque and 290 horsepower. Another available engine is a turbocharged 2.3-liter turbocharged 4-cylinder. This engine can create 310 pound-feet of torque and 280 horsepower. The most powerful engine available is a 3.5-liter turbocharged V6, which can generate around 350 pound-feet of torque and 365 horsepower. Front-wheel drive is available on the bottom models, while all-wheel drive comes with the higher options. Every Explorer comes with a 6-speed automatic transmission. There aren't any engines that add more power, which means it's hard for the Explorer to keep up with the Grand Cherokee.

2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee Features & Design

Along with the long list of available engines, the Grand Cherokee comes in 7 trim level options. The first of these is the Laredo, which includes dual-zone automatic climate control, a 6-speaker sound system, 17-inch wheels, a seven-inch touchscreen, rear parking sensors, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and keyless entry and ignition. More features can be found with the Limited trim, which includes a heated steering wheel, 18-inch wheels, power-adjustable front seats, driver-seat memory settings, auto-dimming driver-side and rearview mirrors, a 115-volt power outlet, remote start, leather upholstery, a power liftgate, and heated front and rear seats. One of the more luxurious options, Summit, includes additional noise-reducing window glass, 20-inch wheels, a nineteen-speaker Harman Kardon audio system, a suite of advanced safety features, a self-parking system, upgraded leather upholstery, active noise-canceling technology, and features from previous models.

2019 Ford Explorer Features & Design

There are only five trim levels offered with the 2019 Explorer. The first of these, called base, comes with a rearview camera, Ford' Sync voice command system, 18-inch wheels, a 4.2-inch central display, a USB port, a power-adjustable driver's seat, and Bluetooth. Another model, the XLT, comes with a leather-wrapped steering wheel, a power-adjustable front passenger seat, and satellite radio. In order to gain more features, you'll have to add a package option--Ford Safe and Smart or Driver Connect. Another option, Limited, you'll find premium audio, leather upholstery, a power tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, power-folding third-row seats, and heated and ventilated front seats.

Conclusions

The winner is clear! The 2019 Jeep Grand Cherokee not only gives you a long list of standard and available features, but you also get off-roading and track-performance capability! The Explorer holds up as a daily commuter, but beyond that, it completely falls behind the Grand Cherokee. Are you interested in learning more about the 2019 Grand Cherokee?
