2019 Jeep Cherokee vs 2019 Honda CR-V near Long Island, NY

Getting the perfect SUV is important in making your life easier and more enjoyable. That is why finding the right one can be so difficult and stressful. We're here to make the process easier by comparing two of the top models in the small SUV segment. The first option is the 2019 Jeep Cherokee, which features a new exterior look, an upgraded standard infotainment system, and a new available engine. The second option is the 2019 Honda CR-V. This trim remains unchanged from the previous model year, and still offers thoughtful storage, a powerful engine, and a roomy interior. The 2019 Cherokee is off to a roaring headstart, but which SUV should you be driving home? Keep reading down below to find out which of these SUVs comes out on top.

2019 Jeep Cherokee Power & Handling

When it comes to power, Jeep has always been known to bring it. That's because not only do their vehicles work on-the-road, but they have a long history of off-roading excellence. The 2019 Cherokee continues that tradition with three different engine options. The first is a 2.4-liter inline-4, which kicks out 171 lb-ft of torque and 180 hp. Next up is the 3.2-liter V6, which can create around 271 hp and 239 lb-ft of torque. Finally, the newest addition to the engine lineup is a 2.0-liter turbocharged inline-4, which offers 270 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque. No matter the engine you get in the end, you'll find a nine-speed automatic transmission to finish everything off.

2019 Honda CR-V Power & Handling

The 2019 CR-V comes with just two available engines. The standard option is a 2.4-liter inline-4, which outputs 180 lb-ft of torque and 184 horsepower. On higher trims, you'll find the turbocharged 1.5-liter inline-4, which will get you 179 lb-ft of torque and 190 horsepower. Front-wheel and all-wheel drive are available. The standard transmission is a CVT, which adds responsiveness, but not much else. This is not an SUV you should be taking off-roading, and while AWD is great for slippery road conditions, it won't help you on the trails.

2019 Jeep Cherokee Features & Design

To further find out what else makes the 2019 Cherokee so special, you need only look at the five available trim levels. The first trim you'll find is Latitude, which gives you a folding front passenger seat, Bluetooth, a 7-inch touchscreen interface, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, heated side mirrors, a rearview camera, height-adjustable front seats, 17-inch wheels, a USB port, a 6-speaker audio system, 60/40-split folding rear seatback, and automatic xenon headlights. Another trim, which focuses on off-roading, is Trailhawk. This model adds tow hooks, all-terrain tires, hill ascent and descent control, unique leather and cloth upholstery, wider 17-inch wheels, off-road suspension tuning, and an increase in ground clearance. The most luxurious model is Overland, adding a leather-wrapped instrument panel, 18-inch wheels, a nine-speaker audio system, a sound-deadening windshield, a power-adjustable passenger seat, and unique body-colored exterior trim.

2019 Honda CR-V Features & Design

Honda offers the 2019 CR-V with four trim levels, and a complete lack of available options. The standard trim LX comes with a height-adjustable driver seat, LED running lights, a 4-speaker audio system, automatic climate control, Bluetooth, 17-inch alloy wheels, a 5-inch color display, cruise control, and a rearview camera. Another trim, EX, adds heated front seats, heated mirrors, dual-zone automatic climate control, keyless entry and start, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, 2nd-row USB charging ports, rear cross-traffic alert, forward collision warning, rear privacy glass, a power-adjustable driver's seat, and an upgraded rearview camera. The highest trim level available is Touring. This trim includes a subwoofer, LED headlights, ambient interior lighting, roof rails, a navigation system, hands-free functionality with the power liftgate, dual chrome exhaust tips, and automatic wipers.
