2018 Chrysler Pacifica vs 2018 Honda Odyssey near Long Island, NY

Do you need the perfect family hauler? If so, you know that there are many minivan options out there. Two of those minivans are the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica and the 2018 Honda Odyssey. You would be especially proud to own the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica because it has earned strong marks for ride and handling, and acceleration. The Honda Odyssey has been redesigned for the 2018 model year. Continue reading to learn all about how the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica and the 2018 Honda Odyssey compare!

2018 Chrysler Pacifica Power & Handling

Coming standard on the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica is a 3.6-liter V6 engine. There is a nine-speed automatic transmission that powers the front wheels. The engine produces 287 horsepower @ 6,400 rpm and 262 lb-ft of torque @ 4,000 rpm. Expect to get up to 28 mpg highway and 18 mpg city. If you opt for the Pacifica Hybrid, then you will have a 3.6-liter V6 engine with dual-electric motors and a 16kWh battery.

2018 Honda Odyssey Power & Handling

Underneath the 2018 Honda Odyssey's hood you may find a 3.5-liter V6 engine that puts out 280 horsepower @ 6,000 rpm and 262 lb-ft of torque @ 4,700 rpm. Most of the Odyssey lineup is powered by a new-to-Odyssey nine-speed automatic transmission. However, Touring and Elite trims both offer a new, smooth ten-speed automatic transmission. Due to the ten-speed transmission, the Odyssey has a top towing capacity of 3,500 pounds.

2018 Chrysler Pacifica Features & Design

The L trim may be perfect for those on serious budgets, as it is the least expensive of the trims. The LX has rear cross-traffic alert, parking sensors, three-zone air conditioning, blind-spot monitoring, 17-inch aluminum wheels, heated outside mirrors, a rearview camera, and active grille shutters for fantastic fuel economy. There is also standard Stow 'n Go seating for the second row, and there is also active noise cancellation. Uconnect with a seven-inch touchscreen is standard. There is also a USB port, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and Bluetooth.

2018 Honda Odyssey Features & Design

The 2018 Honda Odyssey's base LX has space for seven passengers. However, the EX offers a lot more than the LX. The EX has space for eight people, an eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system, Magic Slide second-row seats, power sliding doors, heated front seats and remote-sensing keyless entry. There has been a common complaint of how the infotainment system can be tough to teach yourself how to use. Also, the Odyssey lacks push buttons to fold the exterior mirrors flat, as doing that would make it easier for a person to get into their garage.

As we indicated above, the 2018 Chrysler Pacifica and the 2018 Honda Odyssey are similar, but they have their differences. While the Honda Odyssey has been redesigned for the model year, the Chrysler Pacifica is better because it is available in a hybrid version, and many of its trims have all sorts of different safety features.
