Used Dodge Challenger at East Hills in Long Island
The Dodge Challenger offers muscle car performance, but can also be used as an everyday driver. The 2014 Challenger continues to be reminiscent of the 1970 model, yet also is designed with a modern flair to keep up with other vehicles of today. For the 2014 model year some features of the Dodge Challenger have expanded availability - for example, every Challenger can now be equipped with performance suspension and brakes as well as 20-inch aluminum wheels. There is also a new option package for entry-level Challengers and SXT models called the Super Sport Group.
Powering the Dodge Challenger
The base Challenger SXT is powered by a 3.6-liter Pentastar V6 that produces 305 horsepower and 268 foot-pounds of torque. The Challenger R/T gets its power from a 5.7-liter Hemi V8. The V8 is rated at 372 hp and 400 pound-feet of torque with the 5-speed automatic, or 375 hp and 410 pound-feet of torque with the standard 6-speed manual. R/T V-8 models with automatic transmission have cylinder deactivation that shuts off four cylinders to save fuel when less power is needed. Both engines use regular gas and standard all-disc brakes. The Challenger SXT drives a lot like the Charger because the Challenger is based on the Charger with four inches taken out between the front and rear wheels. When cruising, the Challenger is well behaved and easy to control.
The 2014 Challenger's Design
The Challenger exterior features a cool design and a commanding presence. The major lines and details are well executed. The four round lamp units and deeply inset grille of the original are still there. The cabin of the Challenger is straightforward and well put together. The rear seat is quite comfortable and roomier than most would expect. The rear bench seat has three shoulder belts, baby seat anchors, a fold-down armrest with cupholders, coat hooks, two central vents, and two integral headrests.
Conclusions
Safety features on all 2014 Challengers include dual frontal airbags, front side airbags, curtain side airbags, antilock brakes with electronic brake distribution and brake assist, tire-pressure monitor, active front head restraints, stability control and traction control.
